3月下旬にワックスサシェのワークショップへ参加してきましたので、その感想について書きました。

春の代表的な花は日本では桜でしょう。では海外で春の訪れを告げる花は何でしょうか？ 近年はミモザも楽しまれています。ミモザが日本にわたってきたのは明治時代です。小さな黄色の花はハンドメイドの材料によく好まれます。今回は、ミモザのワックスサシェ作り体験に参加してきました。体験会場内の内装は本やヴィンテージ雑貨に囲まれ広々とした空間で、静かな時間は自分自身に没頭することができます。
そしてワックスサシェは初心者にも優しい作り方でした。ビーズワックスとシアバターを溶かし、エッセンシャルオイルを入れたものを形に流し込みます。エッセンシャルオイルはワークショップ主催者が用意したミモザの香り付きでした。ドライフラワー状にしたミモザは、自分がどのパーツを使うのか、完成イメージを思い浮かべながら決めていきます。
ここからが時間との勝負。固まるまでが早いので、約3分間に、ミモザの花を置いていく必要があります。先にイメージを考えておかないと、アレンジに悩んでいたら、固まり切ってしまいそれ以上花はもう添えられないのです。制作過程でイメージしていたのと違ったのは、材料を揃えられれば、30分くらいで作れることでした。サシェもロウにパーツを埋め込んでいくより、そっと置いていくので花は立体感を持って見えるようになります。凝ったものを作りたいけど、シンプルな飾りに変更したおかげで初めてながら上手くできました。没入感のある体験は、日常の中で悩んでいることや疲れをしばし忘れさせてくれるそんな一時です。

最後に好きな色の紐を取り付けて、ラッピングしていただきました。自宅に飾って、ミモザの香りに癒されてます(*^‐^*)

Without a doubt, the cherry blossom is the iconic and quintessential flower heralding the arrival of spring in Japan. However, in recent years, mimosa has also enjoyed great popularity as well. It was introduced to Japan during the Meiji era. Its small yellow flowers are often used as materials for handmade crafts. For this particular adventure, I participated in a workshop making mimosa wax sachets.
The shop’s interior features a spacious, serene atmosphere surrounded by books and vintage goods, allowing you to lose yourself in the moment. The process is beginner friendly. Melt beeswax and shea butter, add essential oil, and pour the mixture into a mold. The essential oil provided by the workshop organizer has a muted honey scent. For the dried mimosa, visualize the final design and decide which parts to use, such as the flower clusters or the flowering tips of the branches.
From here on, it’s a race against time. Since the mixture sets quickly, you have about three minutes to arrange the blossoms. If you don’t have a clear vision in mind beforehand, you run the risk of spending too much time deciding on the arrangement —and by the time you do, it will have set completely, leaving no room to make further refinements.
Remarkably, it didn’t take much time. Once you have all the materials prepared, you are able to craft the floral piece in about 30 minutes. Because the flowers are placed on top rather than embedded, the sachet has a more three-dimensional look. Although you may desire something elaborate, I would encourage you to adopt a simpler design, and as a result you will be enchanted with your results. This immersive experience is a precious moment you will cherish.
Surrounded by the past, you forget yourself and flow with the precious present moment appreciating your botanical arrangement as a symbol of your care, simplicity, imperfection, and transience.
