五月初めにお花見に行ってきました(投稿しているのは６月も終わる頃ですが笑)。場所はHigh ParkとTrinity Bellwooods Parkを訪れたので、それぞれの感想を載せています。
※ここでは日本語記事を書いてから、英訳してそれぞれ両方の記事を掲載しています。

『High Parkでリラックスタイムを満喫したお話』
仕事終わりの平日に、一人時間を楽しむためにHigh Parkへ行きました。主に自然の中で読書と散歩をしたい私にとっては、そこは最高の場所です。順路はCherry Blossomから、Grenadier Pondを半周し、Hillside Gardenへと戻る。Grenadier Pond沿いに歩いていくと、日本では見ない珍しい鳥が二羽いた。巣を作っている最中なのか、二羽はお互いそばを離れない。Gardenから丘に上がる途中には、枯葉の下からガサガサと音がした。じっと様子を見ていれば、シマリスが勢いよくジャンプして、かけ去っていくではないか。ようやく空いているベンチを見つけて、気持ちのいい日差しの下で、１時間半たっぷり本を読みふけっていた。帰りは別の道を通り、そこでも桜が咲いているのを見かけた。そうやって新しい発見をするのは楽しい。他にも、High Parkでは様々なアクティビティが楽しめる。犬と一緒に散歩する人、ヨガや日光浴、ピクニックする人とその活動は人それぞれなのです。それはきっとトロント生活における魅力の一つでしょう。
『日本の桜並木を思い起こさせるTrinity Bellwoods Park』
海外の友達と一緒にお花見をしようと誘いました。トロントで桜の名所と言えば、High Parkを思い浮かべる人がほとんどでしょう。今年は別の場所も訪れてみたく、Trinity Bellwoods Parkを選びました。インスタに上げられているこの公園の桜は、日本のように桜並木になっている。並木道に広がる薄ピンク色の花びらが散っていく姿は日本を思い起こさせた。ただし、実際に訪れてみてわかったのは、桜が植えられているのは公園内で主に二か所のみで、まだ木も若く成長途中です。対して、日本の桜はほとんど建物の三階くらいの高さに到達するので触れることはできません。日本人にとってはまだ十分と感じないかもしれませんが、いずれは故郷を連想させる景色が見られるのかもしれない。

Relaxing time in High Park
After the day’s work, I went to High Park to take a rest. Personally, I am a big fan of walking in nature and devouring books, so this is the perfect place to recommend. In High Park, I leisurely strolled from Cherry Blossoms to Grenadier Pond and back to Hillside Garden. While walking towards Grenadier Pond, I spotted two birds that I had never seen in Japan before. They must have made a nest as they did not separate. Meanwhile, walking towards the hill, I heard rustling as if bouncy chipmunks leapt quickly out of the foliage and hid in the woods. Eventually I spotted a bench and spent some much-needed time dive into a mystery book in the warm sunlight. After I chose a new return route through High Park, where cherry blossoms were in almost full bloom. If you fond of discovering new things, you can enjoy a wide range of recreational relaxing activities. I strongly feel this is one of the most charming outdoor adventures in Toronto.
Trinity Bellwoods Park
To impress my friends I insisted that they join me cherry blossom viewing. Most people probably think of High Park when they think of cherry blossom viewing spots in Toronto. The cherry trees in this park, are lined with the light pink blossoms just like in Japan. The delicate petals on the tree-lined avenue are evocated of Japan. In fact, there are only two cherry blossom area in the park, and they are still young and growing. In contrast, it is impossible to touch most of the cherry blossoms in Japan since they reach up to three-stories tall. Although for the Japanese, it is most likely not nearly enough, it is reminiscent of early growth and a comforting reminder of future promise.
